Abstract

The interstitial type of ectopic pregnancy refers to a gestation in the intramural tubal segment. It is a relatively rare entity, accounting for 2% to 3% of all tubal pregnancies, but the rich vascularity of the uterus in this location makes
rupture
particularly dangerous, resulting in a higher maternal mortality.
The implications are almost indistinguishable from other types of ectopic gestation, but the greater mass of myometrium permits the pregnancy to advance to a somewhat later date, as late as 16 weeks, before rupture occurs.
A case of cornual rupture with 19 weeks interstitial pregnancy is presented with a brief review of literatures.
